Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 18, 2026

Ranyx is a browser-based video calling service that you join with a link, which translates what you say into the other person's language and speaks it in your own voice. This policy explains how your personal data is processed when you use Ranyx, under Turkish Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (KVKK) and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Account and sessions

When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, profile photo link and Google account ID. We don't store passwords; access tokens issued by Google are stored encrypted.

To keep you signed in, we use session cookies and keep a session record containing your IP address and browser information. Sessions expire after 30 days at most. Request rates are limited by IP address to prevent abuse.

Calls

To join a call you must be signed in and have created a voice copy. Your camera and microphone streams are transmitted to the other participant in real time through LiveKit's infrastructure. We don't record calls.

If you choose to share your screen, the shared screen is transmitted live to the other participant the same way; it isn't recorded. Screen audio isn't shared.

During a call, your name and the language you chose are shared with the participants in the room.

The ID of the account that started a call is stored with the call code. Only the person who started the call can approve requests to join, and the name of the person asking is shown to them.

Live translation and captions

Live translation is on by default, and any participant can turn it off for everyone in the call. While it is on and the other participant has chosen a different language, your microphone audio is sent to our translation service: ElevenLabs transcribes your speech, Anthropic's Claude model translates the text, and ElevenLabs speaks the translation in your voice copy, which is then delivered to the other participant. For more accurate translation, the last few sentences of the conversation are sent along as context.

The text recognized from your speech is shown to you, and its translation is shown to the other participant, as captions.

We don't store call audio, transcripts, translations or captions; they are processed in memory only for the duration of the call. Technical logs contain no conversation content, only information such as timings and lengths.

In-call chat

Messages you type in the chat are sent to our server, translated by Anthropic into the languages chosen by the other participants in the room, and delivered to them through LiveKit. We don't store message contents; they disappear from the screen when you leave the call. To prevent abuse, we record only the number of messages you send.

Voice copy

To create your voice copy, the recording you make while reading the text on screen is sent to ElevenLabs. It is transcribed to check that it matches the text, and the transcript is deleted right away. We don't store the recording; ElevenLabs keeps it as part of your voice copy, and it is deleted together with your voice or your account.

Your voice copy is kept at ElevenLabs and used to speak your translations in calls and to create previews you request. We store only the copy's ID, the time of your explicit consent, the version of the consent text you agreed to, and the recording's language and duration.

Your voice copy is created and used based on your explicit consent. You can withdraw your consent at any time by deleting your voice on the "My voice" page; you will then need to record your voice again to join calls.

Purposes and legal bases

Account, call, live translation, caption and chat data are processed to conclude and perform our contract with you so that we can provide the service (KVKK Art. 5(2)(c); GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).

Session security, abuse prevention and technical logs are based on our legitimate interests (KVKK Art. 5(2)(f); GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).

Your voice copy is based on your explicit consent (KVKK Art. 5(1); GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)).

Where our legal obligations require it, data may be shared with competent authorities (KVKK Art. 5(2)(ç); GDPR Art. 6(1)(c)).
